TEAM FORMATION PROCEDURES

Teams will be formed based on age via a blind draft.  Players are placed on teams via this draft about 2 weeks after our registration deadline ends.  Players may request to play up ONE year if there is room in the older division.

Buddy Draft can be used if a player has either:

  1. Never played soccer before and wants to play with a friend who has never played soccer before OR has a friend who is already playing soccer, as long as there is room on their team roster to accept new players. That “buddy” must reciprocally request to be placed with the requesting friend.

  2. Played soccer before but has not played for the last 2 consecutive seasons and “buddy” has room on their current roster OR is new as well AND there is room to place them together AND reciprocally requests the “buddy”.

.

RETURNING PLAYERS
Returning players get priority to their respective teams (unless registration is late). They can return to the team they played with the previous season or can go back into the player pool.

Any returning player that does not want to return to their team from the fall season may request to be placed in the player pool for their age group. You will need to register to your age group and select the option for “DRAFT PLAYER”.

No players will be allowed to switch teams due to practice day/time conflicts. No exceptions.
Practice days/times are selected by the volunteer coach based on what works best for their schedules. Players that have other activities must work out conflicts with their coach. If a parent really needs a specific day/time for practices, they should consider volunteering to coach the team.

REFUND POLICY

NO REFUNDS WILL BE ISSUED ONCE PLAYERS ARE PLACED ON TEAMS, which will be July 20 for fall season and January 20 for spring season.

Coaches are parent volunteers. If a team does not have a volunteer coach, CYSA will NOT issue refunds for teams that don’t have a coach. Parents, please consider volunteering to help make sure the kids get to play!

PARENT RESPONSIBILITES

Parents, you are an integral part of a player’s success! Please read up on the rules for your child’s age division and understand the expectations while you are at the soccer fields.

CYSA Parent Code of Conduct

As a CYSA Parent, I will:

1) Learn the rules of the game.

2) Let the coach be the coach.

3) Be a good sport and teach by example.

4) Stay on my side of the field and five feet off the sidelines.

5) Cheer positively.

6) NEVER yell at the coach.

7) NEVER yell at the referee.

8) NEVER instruct my child to break the rules deliberately.

9) Teach my child to be respectful of the officials.

10) Not interfere with the linesmen.

11) Realize that the officials are human.

12) Let the coach handle situations that arise.

I have read and agree to follow the Parent Code of Conduct at all CYSA league activities. I understand that if I do not follow these guidelines, I will be asked to leave the league activity. By registering your child, you have AGREED to abide by the CYSA Parent Code of Conduct.

Read more on our Parent page.

RESPECT OUR REFEREES

CYSA has a ZERO TOLERANCE policy for misconduct towards our Referees. Parents should NEVER address a Referee, except to simply say “Thank You” when you see a Referee at the fields! They have the hardest job in town! If you have an issue with a Referee, you need to address it with the CYSA Staff/Board, NEVER with the Referee directly. US Soccer and North Texas State Soccer Association, our governing bodies, have increased the severity of discipline for misconduct towards a Referee. Please watch this 2 minute video BEFORE registering your child. Once you have registered, you are stating you understand the US Soccer Referee Abuse Prevention Policy.
